Counseling Services
Clients come to the Interprofessional Center (IPC) with complex situations and can benefit from psychological and social work services. The IPC is designed to work with the whole person while providing experiential learning opportunities to students from Morrison Family College of Health’s and .
Our mental health services can take many forms including counseling to individuals, couples, and families, psychological assessment, and clinical case management. as a part of legal proceedings or therapeutic treatment planning.
This real-world experience is an integral part of our students’ education. They take classroom concepts and put them into practice. Training is enhanced by learning with and from our interprofessional peers, ultimately benefitting the clients that we serve.
Psychological Services
Competence and caring characterize the delivery of psychological services at the Interprofessional Center for Counseling and Legal Services (IPC). Psychological Services at the Interprofessional Center include psychological assessments and counseling.
Counseling service are available to adults, couples, and families.
All services are provided by . under the supervision of a licensed professional with background in the provision of competent and professional clinical services.
Counseling Services are primarily operating remotely via telehealth.
Psychological assessments are a frequent request of Psychological Services at the Interprofessional Center. Assessments are requested from both external referral sources and internally from the IPC's Legal Services Clinic.
When making a referral to the IPC, careful consideration is given to the pertinent question(s) the referral source is seeking to answer. A psychological assessment may often involve the administration of a number of assessment instruments chosen specifically to respond to the reason for the referral. Psychological Services at the IPC has a range of assessment it can provide. Examples include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Court-ordered mental health evaluations to complete probation requirements
- Comprehensive psychological assessment to determine best treatment options
- Vocational/career assessment for use by individuals in making occupational choices
- An initial screen assessment to determine further specialized assessment needed; appropriate referrals are suggested in the assessment report
In general, a psychological or vocational evaluation takes approximately four to six weeks to complete. It includes a clinical interview, administration of assessment tools, and completion of a comprehensive interpretive report of the results.
Psychological counseling services are provided to, adults, couples, and families by psychology students at the masters and doctoral levels. Sensitivity to working with clients of diverse backgrounds (e.g. race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender, age) is stressed in training at the IPC.

A brief initial telephone screening will be completed with the potential client to determine eligibility. Potential clients who are uninsured or under-insured are prioritized.
Social Work Services
Competence and caring characterize the comprehensive social work services at the Interprofessional Center for Counseling and Legal Services (IPC). These services are provided by undergraduate and graduate students in the , under the license and supervision of the Center's director of social work services.
Social Work services are offered both in person and via telehealth.
Social Work students provide comprehensive clinical case management services to a wide range of clients. Our case managers have extensive knowledge of a variety of psycho-social issues affecting our clients, including housing, material needs, transportation barriers, education, employment, health benefits and other government safety net programs. Case managers also provide advocacy as clients navigate complex systems including immigration processes. Case managers are engaged in problem solving with their clients while providing emotional support as they work through difficult legal, resource and psycho-social issues.
Social work counseling services are provided to adults, couples, and families by masters-level social work students. Sensitivity to working with clients of diverse backgrounds (e.g. race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender, age) is stressed in training at the IPC.
